Parking location, wind, surf, and time outdoors can change a vehicle’s exposure. Note visible salt film and where the vehicle stays.
Choose a wash schedule
No single schedule fits every coastal vehicle. Inspect the paint, trim, wheels, and accessible metal after beach trips or extended outdoor parking.
For road-salt exposure, AAA recommends washing at least every two weeks and more often after heavy exposure. Use that interval as a benchmark, then follow the vehicle maker’s care instructions.
Include the undercarriage
Request an underbody rinse when the provider and wash location can perform it safely. AAA recommends an underbody spray because salt can collect below the vehicle. Source: AAA salt damage guidance
Tell the detailer about visible rust, damaged coatings, or recent saltwater contact. Detailing does not replace a mechanical corrosion inspection.
Request salt air corrosion care
Send the address, vehicle details, parking location, visible residue, and requested wash areas. Include photos of any corrosion concerns.
